Cool Zones
OG&E designated Cool Zones are available throughout our service territory and are designed for people
who need a cool place to go to avoid heat-related illnesses this summer. These facilities may include
libraries, shopping centers, and senior citizen centers. To locate a Cool Zone in your area, click

Neighborhood Link
The next time you want to find out about yard sales, zoning issues, block watch groups, baby-sitting co-ops and other neighborhood activities, log on to www.neighborhoodlink.com.
OG&E, in partnership with the nationwide Neighborhood Link community network, has made it possible for every neighborhood and homeowners association in the Oklahoma City metro area to have its own free, interactive Web site.
Each neighborhood's Web site provides its own community calendar, discussion area, newsletter and "Meet Your Neighbors" personal homepages. There are also links to city councils, local police departments, schools, public libraries, city and state agencies, weather, and to OG&E's online outage monitoring - System Watch. Neighborhood Link sites also offer an area where local clubs, non-profits and other organizations can have their own free, interactive Web sites. To participate or activate your own neighborhood or organization's site in metro Oklahoma City, visit: www.neighborhoodlink.com or call Neighborhood Link at 1-888-241-0123.
OG&E offers a helping hand to those in need through
several community service programs. Each program is operated by OG&E
professionals whose sole job is to provide quality service to our
communities and customers. For more information about any of these programs call (405)
553-3642.
Lend-A-Hand
Lend-A-Hand gives you the opportunity to help those having trouble paying their utility bills by including a few extra dollars with your OG&E payment. Your entire contribution will be forwarded to The Salvation Army which distributes the money to help pay for electricity, gas, fuel or firewood for your neighbors in need. For more information, contact The Salvation Army office in your area. To locate the nearest office of The Salvation Army, call (405) 840-0735.
Gatekeeper Program
OG&E employees are trained to keep a helpful eye out for our senior citizens - watching for subtle signs of trouble when working in the community or answering questions on the telephone. If a problem is noticed, our employees contact local designated agencies to provide the proper assistance. Some of the things OG&E employees look for include:
| • |
Unattended newspapers or mail |
| • |
A normally well-kept yard left unattended |
| • |
Noticeable changes in the way a customer behaves or appears |
| • |
Slurring, disorientation or speech problems over the phone. |
Third Party Notification Plan
OG&E's "Third Party Notification" plan allows any
residential customer to designate a "third party" (A relative,
friend, neighbor, social worker, etc.) to receive a copy of any
cut off notices OG&E must send because of nonpayment of electric
bills. This plan can provide the customer with peace of mind in
the knowledge that there is someone else who will be notified if
bill payment problems exist. The third party is not obligated to
pay any past-due bills.
Other Programs
In schools across Oklahoma and western Arkansas, OG&E is helping develop young minds through several special programs like the Adopt-A School program. Through Adopt-A-School, OG&E volunteers help grade papers, tutor students and assist school libraries. The program, Choices, encourages students to stay in school by helping them explore their education and career through two days of discussion led by OG&E volunteers.
In addition, OG&E assists in the Junior Achievement program and safety
programs.
