 Meter History Museum

Welcome to the OG&E Meter History site. OG&E has launched this site to share an important part of our history with you. Electricity is possibly the most accurately measured commodity consumed by the general public today, making the electricity meter on homes, schools and businesses a huge part of that history.

The meters on this site were installed and maintained by OG&E members during its 100-plus years of service and date back to 1898. They include all types, ranging from a 50 volt, two-wire residential, to direct current meters that were used to measure the output of electric generators. The modern smart meter that is used today is the result of more than a century of research and development and continues the tradition of measuring electricity at a very high level of accuracy.

We hope you enjoy our meter history site and we look forward to your comments and questions about the individual meters.  We would appreciate your thoughts about the entire site using the survey at this linkBe sure to share our site with your friends and family and thank you for helping OG&E continue our history of Positive Energy®.
