A Heat Pump is a high-tech energy saving device which provides
year-round comfort. This one system heats in the winter and cools
in the summer.
In summer, the Heat-Pump operates as a conventional air conditioner
to cool your home. In the winter, the system is reversed and the
Heat Pump actually gathers heat already in the outside air and pumps
it indoors to your home.
A Heat Pump consists of two units. The outdoor unit contains the
compressor, outdoor coil and fan, just like your existing central
air conditioner. The indoor unit resembles a warm air furnace and
contains a coil, blower, supplemental heaters and air filter. A
wall thermostat automatically controls the air temperature in the
home.
What makes the Heat Pump such a unique, energy saving system for
home heating is that it does not create heat, like a common furnace.
Heat Pumps capture and utilize existing heat enabling
the system to deliver two or more units of heat for each unit of
energy needed to operate the unit.
