Wind Power

About the Program

OG&E Wind Power Since September 2003, OG&E has offered wind power as an energy option. It is our response to customer interest in alternative fuel. Wind power is clean, renewable and efficient. As little as 100 kilowatt-hours used per month for a year can have the same environmental benefit as planting half an acre of trees.

With the addition of the Centennial Wind Farm, one of the only wind farms to be wholly owned by an electric utility, OG&E’s wind power program is one of the largest in the country with 170 megawatts of power, enough electricity to power about 51,000 homes.

Thanks to the 10,000 customers who subscribed to our original Wind Power Program, we’ve been able to add wind power to our current electricity generation mix. Although we will no longer offer wind on a subscription basis, we will continue to honor existing subscriptions to our Wind Power Program.

Our investments in Wind power have made renewable energy an important part of Oklahoma’s economy and energy portfolio. When the wind isn’t blowing, OG&E has both coal and natural gas power plants to deliver power to our customers. Having an electricity generation mix of coal, natural gas and wind assures reliability for our customers.

Wind Power Calculator
Wind Power offered on a subscription basis costs 10 cents per 100 kWh block of wind. These Wind Power customers also receive a credit for the Fuel Cost Adjustment, which varies according to the cost of fuel. When fuel costs are high, Wind Power customers can see a credit on their bill; with lower fuel costs, these customers may pay a small premium for wind power.
