OG&E Wind Power Farms

In 2006, OG&E won approval from the Oklahoma Corporation Commission to build the Centennial Wind Farm, which is located in Harper County, just north of Woodward, Okla. Centennial is one of the only wind farms to be fully owned and operated by an electric utility. Its 80 turbines can generate 120 megawatts of electricity.

In 2003, OG&E implemented a 15-year agreement to purchase power produced by 34 wind turbines at the Oklahoma Wind Energy Center, located 13 miles northeast of Woodward. The wind farm is owned and operated by the Florida-based FPL Energy company. These 34 wind turbines can generate 50 megawatts of electricity that feeds into the OG&E electricity system.

The two wind farms generate enough electricity to power approximately 51,000 homes.

OG&E wind power requires no new or different equipment at your home or business. Wind power generated electricity is placed on the OG&E power grid, which is like a pool of water.
