Through partnerships with our customers we balance our responsibility to protect natural resources with our commitment to deliver safe, reliable and reasonably priced power.

In 2009 we set a goal to delay building new incremental fossil-fuel generation until 2020 or later. Part of this goal includes a partnership with our customers: we supply programs to help them become better energy managers – and they enjoy reduced energy costs while helping to minimize impacts to the environment.

The programs we offer –renewable energy, energy efficiency and smart grid-based energy management tools – have displaced CO2 emissions by an estimated 18 million tons since 2005. Through partnerships with our customers we balance our responsibility to protect natural resources with our commitment to deliver safe, reliable and reasonably priced power.

Smart Grid Tools – Most people associate smart grid with our award-winning SmartHours® program, which gives customers the option to manage their energy consumption during peak periods of summer energy use. The program annually reduces about 150MW of demand on the grid. But our implementation of smart technology also helps customers reduce their environmental footprint with energy management tools like myOGEpower. As part of our smart technology deployment and remote connecting ability, we have avoided driving approximately 3.9 million miles since the program was implemented in 2010. The smart meter technology also eliminates emissions associated with vehicle travel for meter reading activities and reduced truck dispatches for service connects and disconnects.

Energy Efficiency Programs -- Since 2008, OG&E customer energy efficiency programs, including home energy audits and weatherization have saved more than 830,000 megawatt-hours of electricity consumption. By 2017, energy efficiency programs led to the avoidance of 440 tons of NOx and nearly 1,100 tons of SO2 emissions. We’re helping build sustainable value for our customers by maintaining a diverse fuel portfolio, helping customers use less energy, save money and reducing our emissions profile.
