OKLAHOMA CITY – Over the past month, OGE Energy Corp. Foundation, Inc. recognized three high school seniors as 2025 OGE Positive Energy Scholars hip recipients.
Each student plans to attend college in Oklahoma and will receive a total of $60,000 in scholarship funds over four years to cover tuition, books, fees and on-campus room and board.
The 2025 OGE Positive Energy Scholars are:
• Abbey Sieg, Mount St. Mary Catholic High School – Oklahoma City, Okla.
• Callen Leslie, Byng High School – Byng, OK
• Koda Hicks, Douglass High School – Oklahoma City, Okla.
Thanks to the financial assistance provided through the Positive Energy Scholarship, Abbey, Callen, and Koda will now be able to attend college and pursue their degrees without the financial burden often associated with higher education.
“Congratulations to Koda, Abbey and Callen, the 2025 OGE Positive Energy Scholars,” said Sean Trauschke, OGE Energy Corp. Chairman, President and CEO. “These students embody what it means to be future-ready leaders. They’ve faced challenges with integrity and determination, and we’re honored to help them pursue their dreams.”
Each scholar received the surprise of a lifetime during schoolwide celebrations filled with cheering classmates, faculty, OG&E team members, local dignitaries, and family. These personalized presentations recognized each student's academic accomplishments, leadership skills, and commitment to service.
Abbey, a Mount St. Mary senior, will pursue a degree at the University of Oklahoma in computer science and robotics engineering. After the sudden loss of her longtime piano teacher, Abbey found new purpose in robotics, eventually becoming programming lead for her robotics team, which competed on the Einstein Field at the FIRST Robotics World Championship. Abbey also leads her school’s speech and debate team and plans to earn a Ph.D. to continue innovating in the STEM field.
“Switching from piano keys to computer keys was difficult, but robotics gave me a new outlet,” Abbey said. “This scholarship gives me the freedom to keep growing and giving back.”
Callen, a senior at Byng High School, will attend Oklahoma State University to study electrical engineering. A natural problem-solver, Callen’s passion began when he disassembled a phone at age 13 just to see how it worked. He now dreams of designing life-saving medical technologies and credits his success to his faith, community, and commitment to hard work.
“There’s been so many prayers about my financial future,” Callen said. “This scholarship feels like an answer.”
Koda, who plans to study finance at Rose State College for two years and finishing at the University of Oklahoma, has overcome many challenges in his life and become a leading voice for Native American advocacy. As co-president of the Oklahoma City Youth Council, he led fundraising efforts for organizations like Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW), the National Indian Child Care Association (NICCA), and American Indigenous Business Leaders (AIBL). Koda plans to use his degree to help Native nonprofits grow and expand their reach.
“This scholarship takes a huge weight off my shoulders and allows me to give back to the community that’s always supported me,” said Hicks.
This year’s scholars were selected from a competitive pool of applicants across OG&E’s Oklahoma and western Arkansas service area. In addition to academic performance, the committee considered leadership, extracurricular involvement, community service, and a passion for making a positive impact.
“When we invest in students like Koda, Abbey, and Callen, we’re investing in the future of our communities,” said Kelli Hayward-Walsh, OG&E Community Outreach and Engagement Manager. “These scholars are changemakers, and this scholarship is one way we empower them to keep building a better tomorrow.”
Since 2012, OG&E and the OGE Energy Corp. Foundation have provided more than $2 million in scholarships to more than 300 students. The Foundation has awarded 21 Positive Energy Scholarships, totaling more than $1 million, since the program’s launch in 2019.
Beyond scholarships, OG&E supports education through teacher grants, STEM partnerships, energy education tools, and efforts to build a stronger, more diverse workforce across its service area.
