BYNG, Okla.
The OGE Energy Corp. Foundation, Inc. awarded Byng High School senior Callen Leslie with the Positive Energy Scholarship, honoring an outstanding innovator with a passion for technology and service.
A parade of classmates, teachers, and community members, OG&E representatives and local dignitaries surprised Callen at a schoolwide celebration announcing his selection as an OG&E Positive Energy Scholar. The $60,000 scholarship covers tuition, books, fees, and on-campus room and board for college.
“Congratulations to Callen, one of three 2025 OG&E Positive Energy Scholars,” said Sean Trauschke, OGE Energy Corp. chairman, president and CEO. “Callen is a curious, driven student with a passion for problem-solving. We are honored to support him as he pursues his dreams and prepares to energize our future workforce.”
Each year, OG&E awards the Positive Energy Scholarship to three students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to building a brighter future. Callen’s path is shaped by a lifelong fascination with technology. At age 13, he disassembled an old phone just to understand how it worked, sparking a journey that led to fixing devices for others and imagining new ways to solve real-world problems.
“This scholarship gives me the opportunity to fully dedicate myself to my education,” said Callen. “I’m so grateful to OG&E for investing in me and helping me take the next step toward becoming an engineer who can make a difference.”
Callen will attend Oklahoma State University, where he plans to major in electrical engineering. He hopes to one day design and manufacture life-saving medical technology and possibly start his own health care innovation company.
“I want to continue to innovate and create things that matter,” Callen said. “There’s been so many prayers about my financial future…and I feel like this is a good answer. I’m so thankful to OG&E for this scholarship.”
