We recently hosted families for a fun day in the Great Outdoors during a free fishing clinic at Sooner Power Plant in northeast Oklahoma.

We partner with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC) and the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Foundation (OWCF) to host fishing clinics at the lakes that serve our power plants.

“This fishing clinic is such a fun way to get kids outdoors while teaching them a skill they can use for a lifetime,” said Kara Givens, OG&E Community Outreach Coordinator. “Our tremendous partnership with the ODWC and OWCF allows us to engage with the families, mother nature, and the community as a whole.”

The partnership supports the Wildlife Department’s Aquatic Resources Education Program, which is focused on educating Oklahoma families about our state’s aquatic environments and natural beauty.

“When we provide children with opportunities to learn about and enjoy Oklahoma’s wildlife and outdoors, we equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to become responsible advocates for our region,” said Colin Berg, Information and Education Section Supervisor at Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
