OG&E line crews showed off the skills they use every day to help customers at the 32nd annual Lineman’s Expo. The event serves as a friendly competition among the linemen and offers OG&E employees and families the opportunity to celebrate and cheer on the hardworking crews who work tirelessly to provide reliable power to Oklahomans and Arkansans, often in some of the toughest weather conditions.
They day started at dawn with a moving salute to the American flag (insert photo/video of flag salute). Then crews from across OG&E’s service area showcased their technical skills and commitment to safety in timed event on traditional line skills.
“These are the skills we use day-in and day-out, in the cold and in the heat, to restore customers’ power after storms. The competition is a great chance to practice and perfect our skills,” said Gerardo Soto, a line crew foreman in the North District in Oklahoma City. “We’re all one big family and support one another, but we take the competition seriously as there are bragging rights on the line. And for those of us who go on to the international competition, it’s a great thrill and honor to represent our company and the Big Orange team.”
