Scam Warning

Safety

Attorney General Gentner Drummond and OG&E are warning Oklahomans about scams involving solar energy equipment and services.

Customers alerted us recently to an increase in door-to-door salespeople trying to sell solar equipment and falsely claiming to be partnering or working with OG&E. Customers also have reported phone scam activity around solar energy services and products, as well as calls threatening service disconnection if payment isn’t made immediately over the phone.

• OG&E does not have any solar panel installation partners, nor do we recommend or partner with any company selling solar generation equipment.
• OG&E does not send representatives out to customers’ homes or businesses to collect payments and will never demand payment over the phone.

Anyone who believes they may be victimized by a phone scam should contact the Office of the Oklahoma Attorney General at consumerprotection@oag.ok.gov or (833) 681-1895.
