What We Do

Safer, More Reliable Electricity

We prune and remove trees on a 4-year schedule with certified line-clearance arborists to control the estimated 2.3 million trees growing near overhead power lines throughout our service area.

Vegetation Management

Trees that grow into OG&E power lines can cause outages, create safety hazards and drain electricity off the electrical system. To reduce this hazard and keep our rates affordable, certified line-clearance arborists prune and remove trees on a regular schedule.

Our Process

OG&E manages vegetation by physically pruning or removing undesirable plants. We may also apply environmentally approved herbicides and use tree growth regulators, which inhibit growth rates of trees adjacent to power lines while maintaining the health of those trees.

Qualified Team Members

Our vegetation management team includes employees with college degrees in forestry, horticulture and environmental sciences. All are Certified Arborists® or Certified Utility Specialists®, credentials earned from the International Society of Arboriculture.

Outages and Vegetation

Storms can cause damage to electrical equipment. Part of our storm restoration work includes clearing tree limbs that are interfering with power lines.

After The Storm

After the lines are cleared, vegetation crews will take tree and brush debris from the customer’s yard to the curb, but it is the customer’s job to dispose of debris due to storms.
